No conclusion yet. Live coverage of the latest situation shows the crowd still holding firm, demanding the reopening and recounting of election ballots. "Chonburi District 1" again
On 9 Feb 2026, a large number of people gathered at the field in front of Mueang District Office, Chonburi Province, opposite the gym in Bang Plasoi Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chonburi, from around 4:00 p.m., to demand that the Chonburi Election Commission inspect the ballot boxes used by voters in District 1. After inquiries, they were told the boxes were kept in a secured room at the Mueang Chonburi District Office under CCTV surveillance.
However, upon inspection, all ballot boxes were found at the district's badminton court without the reported security. They were about to be moved to the Election Commission office without cable ties as required by the Commission’s rules. When asked, officials said cable ties were out of stock. Protesters then surrounded the vehicles and refused to let the boxes be moved, demanding the Election Commission clarify the facts regarding transparency and accuracy amid multiple complaints about the vote counting.
Later, at 1:35 a.m. on 10 Feb 2026, Police Lieutenant Chanin Noilek, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, arrived at the scene, saying, “I stand for justice and am on your side, but everything must follow the law. Any decision to reopen the ballot boxes must come from the Election Commission. Right now, a recount cannot proceed and must wait for the full commission's meeting at 10 a.m. Currently, we are gathering evidence to submit to the seven-member full commission for decision.”
Most recently, at 3:00 a.m., reporters noted the atmosphere remained tense with many protesters still camped at the site demanding a recount. Lieutenant Chanin Noilek reaffirmed his commitment to stay with the crowd and urged no one to act unlawfully.
