Phiphat Schedules EEC Meeting Next Week to Follow Up on Plans for Disneyland Theme Park in Thailand

Phiphat has scheduled a meeting next week to discuss key development projects in the EEC area, including plans to promote the construction of a Disneyland theme park in Thailand, aiming to attract foreign tourists. It was revealed that the private sector will invest in this project through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

10 Feb 2026 GMT+7 Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, revealed that the government is ready to push forward the construction project of the Disneyland theme park in Thailand. He plans to meet with the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee Office (EEC Office) to monitor progress, especially regarding the study approaches and negotiations on licensing rights for Disneyland. It is expected that significant progress will soon be visible.

He admitted that promoting the Disneyland theme park project in Thailand is part of efforts to enhance the appeal of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) area to attract investors. It will also create a new world-class tourist destination to draw more foreign visitors to Thailand. The government will not invest directly; instead, the private sector will invest under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Currently, the EEC has prepared the land to accommodate this project initially.

"The Disneyland project is a major milestone we want to see realized in Thailand, and if the opportunity arises, we are ready to continuously push this project forward, as recently there have been inquiries about its progress," he said.

Meanwhile, a source from the Ministry of Transport stated that next week, Phiphat will invite Jula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee, for discussions on the progress of all key development projects in the EEC area, including future projects, with particular focus on the Disneyland theme park.
