A Chanthaburi civil society network submitted a letter to the Election Commission requesting the suspension of the election results announcement for constituencies 1 and 2 after suspicious anomalies were found in the reporting system, with 'wavering scores' fluctuating up and down. The Chanthaburi Election Commission director explained it was a technical error and forwarded the issue to the central authority for resolution.
On 10 February 2026, at the Chanthaburi Provincial Election Commission office, a group of civil society representatives met with Mr. Amnat Phusadee, director of the Chanthaburi Provincial Election Commission office, to submit a letter of complaint regarding irregularities in vote reporting. The suspicion originated from the operation of the system called " ECT Report 69" which showed total votes exceeding the number of valid ballots in electoral constituencies 1 and 2. Subsequently, the vote counts for several candidates were reduced to align the numbers with valid ballots. This situation caused widespread confusion and concern among the public.
Mr. Krisada Darasorn, a representative of the civil society network, submitted demands through the Chanthaburi Election Commission director, requesting a suspension of the election results announcement for constituency 1 and an order for a complete recount. The network also raised concerns about the conduct of the election unit committees and the standards for determining valid and invalid ballots, which could affect the purity of the vote counts.
Meanwhile, Mr. Athiwat Amnatsakulkiat, a candidate from the Economic Party for Chanthaburi’s constituency 1, expressed concern over the situation. He stated that the later reductions in vote counts felt unfair and emphasized his desire for transparency in the democratic process. He agreed with the civil society network’s call for a recount to verify the truth.
In response, Mr. Amnat Phusadee, Chanthaburi Election Commission director, received the complaint letter and supporting evidence from the complainants. He explained that the authority to order a recount lies solely with the seven members of the central Election Commission. The provincial office will promptly forward the matter to the central authority for further consideration.
Regarding the issue of vote count discrepancies in the system "ECT Report 69" the Chanthaburi Election Commission officials initially explained it was a technical error within the vote reporting system.
Nevertheless, citizens and election observers gathered today affirmed that they will closely monitor the Election Commission’s decision on whether to order a recount as requested.
