Meet Fern Kanokwan: A Fighter from Chonburi District 1 Who Speaks Out Against Injustice

Introducing Fern Kanokwan, a determined young woman from "Chonburi District 1," who opens up about being an ordinary citizen standing up against wrongdoing. She thanks those who praise her clear and articulate speech, explaining that speaking sincerely is what makes her communication so precise.

After the polls closed and the 2026 election vote counting began in several provinces, unofficial results were published on the Election Commission's website. However, in many polling stations, citizens raised concerns about irregularities in the vote counting, including in Pathum Thani District 7 and Maha Sarakham District 1.

, "Chonburi District 1" which sparked an uproar among the people of Chonburi. On the evening of 9 Feb 2026, they gathered to surround election ballot trucks, demanding a recount. The hashtags #ChonburiDistrict1 and #RecountNationwide quickly trended on X, drawing nationwide attention.

From this event, many noticed the role of a young woman in a white shirt who acted as a representative of the crowd, earning praise for her articulate and clear speech.

Most recently, on 10 Feb 2026 at the Chonburi Municipal Badminton Court in Chonburi province, Thairath Online had the opportunity to speak with Fern Kanokwan, the crowd representative, who expressed gratitude for the compliments. She said she is not a student but an ordinary citizen living in Chonburi province, currently working and witnessing election irregularities. Seeing the younger generation raise objections, she felt compelled to stand alongside them, which is why she appeared with them as seen in the media.

When asked if she had previously participated in political activities, Fern said this was her first time protesting the Election Commission's work. Her articulate speech reflects her personality. Seeing the anger among the youth over the Election Commission's errors and lack of official explanations, she felt the need to present herself in a way that would encourage officials to engage with them.

"It is not wrong for the youth to be angry because what the officials or the Election Commission have done is incorrect. Naturally, people will be upset. Normally, when speaking with authorities, if representatives talk loudly or disruptively, the officials would likely refuse to engage. So, we chose to speak politely to encourage dialogue with the authorities."

Fern added that after learning about the praise, she was surprised. From 4 p.m. until night, she did not touch her phone because she was acting as a voice for the people. Many of the original team members stood with her; some spoke less fluently but were equally determined, so she spoke on their behalf.

Asked about her political future, Fern said she wants to focus on serving as a citizen first. When the time comes and she feels ready and qualified, she will consider it. Currently, she recognizes many shortcomings. She may seem calm and polite, and her clear speech might stem from her anger and frustration with the Election Commission's work. Speaking from the heart makes her speech clear. Regarding the future, she cannot answer yet but admits many have suggested it to her. She wants to assess whether she is suitable and does not want any doubts to arise about any party she might join.
