Prime Minister Anutin is awaiting the Election Commission's certification of the 2026 election results before forming a new government. He has instructed the Cabinet to continue working fully and is accelerating studies to cancel MOU 44, declaring it has no benefit to retain. He has assigned Minister Pradorn to monitor budget allocations for public assistance.
On 10 February 2026, Siripong Angkasakulkiat, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that during a Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul expressed congratulations to all ministers who have earned the trust of the people through the constituency and party-list elections. Although unofficial results are known, the process is still ongoing according to the law under the Election Commission (EC).
Anutin stated, as leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, which has been entrusted with the opportunity to lead government formation, he will wait for the EC to officially certify the election results before beginning the process of forming a new government. This is to ensure compliance with the law and the will of the people. He also emphasized that the current Cabinet must continue to perform its duties fully and normally until the new Cabinet takes office.
Additionally, the Prime Minister gave an important directive, assigning Minister Pradorn Prissanananthakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, to closely monitor budgets and programs intended to assist the public that were delayed during the election period, urging for their prompt implementation to alleviate public hardship broadly.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense to study ways to cancel Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) 2544, prioritizing the nation's best interests. The process toward announcing the cancellation of MOU 2544 is not under the caretaker government but must be prepared. Therefore, he ordered all agencies to prepare for moving forward with the cancellation of MOU 2544, which has shown no progress and is therefore useless to retain. .
