Anutin affirmed willingness to wait if a vote recount is required, emphasized that the caretaker government can continue its work, but noted that delays in forming a government are not beneficial to the public, and dismissed claims of sidelining the Klaatham Party.
On 10 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed calls for a nationwide vote recount by the Election Commission (EC). He said the process should follow the law and the EC's discretion. The government has no right to interfere in this matter. Regardless of whether the recount affects Bhumjaithai's vote totals in some areas, the party is prepared to accept the people's decision. Regarding the management of protesters, he instructed police to act strictly within legal boundaries.
Regarding government formation, the Prime Minister said that as a leader, he wishes to form a government quickly to govern the country. However, if official certification of results is delayed due to a recount to reassure the public, the government is willing to wait. The caretaker government remains active during this period. Meanwhile, the party has been preparing what it can, such as drafting policies to present to Parliament.
When asked about the clarity of coalition parties, especially the green and red parties, Anutin responded cheerfully that he has all colors in mind. Addressing rumors that the green party or Klaatham Party would be excluded from the coalition, he said the media is trying to stir controversy. He noted that the exact number of party seats is still uncertain and that official certification from the EC is awaited. He believes excessive delays would not benefit the national interest.
