Profile of Sub-Lieutenant Phasakorn Siripakdayaporn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, Explaining the Election Ballot Box Issue in Chonburi Constituency 1

Profile introduction: "Sub-Lieutenant Phasakorn Siripakdayaporn" Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC) who clarified the issue of the election ballot boxes and election results in Chonburi Constituency 1 requesting two days to conclude.

Following public calls for a vote recount in Chonburi Constituency 1 due to suspicions about ballot boxes not being properly sealed, the public demanded a recount. Subsequently, Sub-Lieutenant Phasakorn Siripakdayaporn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, and Mr. Karnchit Charoen-in, also Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, held a press conference regarding the parliamentary election and referendum after the situation had extended nearly 24 hours.

Sub-Lieutenant Phasakorn explained that ballot boxes from all counting stations were consolidated into a single box for secure storage until the objection period expires, which is two years. While officials prepared to consolidate the boxes, there was a process of rechecking; each station had vote count reports called Form S.S.5/18 and S.S.5/18 B.C. These reports were affixed to the front of each station. Vote count corrections were impossible, and the process was open to public scrutiny. Requests for a recount must comply with legal conditions and fall under the EC's authority, which considers evidence, facts, and objections at each step. The EC resolved to assign the Deputy Secretary-General responsible for investigations to verify the facts, check for any objections or legal violations, and complete the review within two days.
