“Mongkolkit” Storms Election Commission to Demand Return of Dinosaur and Space Votes, Calls for New Nationwide Election

“Tae Mongkolkit” stormed the Election Commission (EC) to submit a letter demanding the return of dinosaur and space votes, calling for the EC to resign within 7 days due to their responsibility for conducting an unfair and unjust election, while also requesting a new nationwide election.

On 11 February 2026, reporters reported that since the morning at the Election Commission (EC) office, Metropolitan Police officers deployed two riot control companies to maintain security and order, setting up metal barriers inside the building near the EC office entrance due to crowds gathering outside to protest against the EC. Around 8:30 a.m., more demonstrators gradually arrived.

Then, at about 9:30 a.m., Mr. Mongkolkit Suksintharanon, a party-list candidate for the New Alternative Party, arrived to submit a letter to the EC. Police requested that only three representatives enter to submit the letter, but Mongkolkit negotiated to bring five people inside. EC staff and police closely monitored the submission. Afterward, they escorted them outside. The office also coordinated with the media present, requiring all journalists to wear identification badges, following an incident on 10 February when students disrupted a press conference by holding up signs.

After submitting the letter demanding the return of votes to the New Alternative Party and calling for a new nationwide election, Mr. Mongkolkit performed 50 push-ups, drawing cheers from students gathered at the EC, as well as from many citizens and government officials visiting the building. He also took selfies to commemorate the event.

Mr. Mongkolkit said afterward that he and Mr. Saweang Boonmee, Secretary of the EC, know each other and hold no personal grudges. This is simply a matter of their roles; he is a politician, and they are the EC. Commissioners should act with greater fairness because many people are watching. Therefore, elections should be conducted fairly and justly. If Mr. Saweang and the entire EC cannot do this, they should step aside for a new EC. He believes the entire nation is unhappy and demands their resignation within 7 days to allow a new EC to organize fairer elections. The 6 billion baht spent is not much compared to electing honest politicians. If corrupt politicians are elected, they can embezzle 500 billion baht. Thus, a 100 baht tax per citizen would be acceptable. He urged the return of votes first—the dinosaur and space votes—and if these are returned, he will not pursue the matter further. But if they are not returned within 7 days, he will take legal action, and the entire EC will bear responsibility because even one unfair polling station can be challenged in court.

“The EC has the authority to cancel elections and request budgets within a few days. This EC should resign because university students nationwide will come to protest against them within this week; he believes many will attend. Recounting votes is pointless because the ballots are already mixed up. Therefore, it is better to hold a new election. Only honest parties fear no election; parties afraid of elections are those involved in corruption.”
