During the call for a recount in Chonburi’s District 1, besides the district chief and the provincial Election Commission, Lt. Col. Chanin Noilek, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission from the central office, arrived late at night at the badminton stadium to explain and seek solutions with the locals demanding a recount. He confirmed that ballot boxes cannot be opened for immediate recounts and that the petition must first be reviewed according to legal electoral procedures.
He is also the originator of the phrase“If they don't back down, neither will we.”He stayed overnight guarding the ballot boxes in District 1, Chonburi, alongside local residents before briefly leaving to shower in the morning and returning to observe the area again to reassure the community.
Lt. Col. Chanin Noilek, Deputy Secretary-General of the Election Commission, is a former police officer who later became a senior civil servant at the Election Commission. He plays a crucial role, especially in investigation and adjudication tasks.
Currently, Lt. Col. Chanin Noilek is responsible for overseeing investigations, inquiries, adjudications, as well as preventing and combating election fraud.
He has previously represented the Election Commission in announcing strict election control measures, including the establishment of"Rapid Response Teams"to monitor vote-buying and handle election complaint cases. He has also promoted the use of technology and applications like the "Pineapple Eye" app, developed to enable public participation in monitoring, tracking election situations, and preventing election fraud.
Additionally, as the head of investigations, he plays a key role in gathering evidence to present to the Election Commission for decisions in cases where electoral fraud or legal violations are detected.
