Poll Shows Public Expects New Government to Be Honest, Transparent, and Focused on Economy and Cost of Living

The North Bangkok Poll revealed that people want the new government to be honest and transparent, focusing on solving economic and cost-of-living problems, while still expressing concerns about the economy not recovering.


On 11 February 2026, Assistant Professor Dr. Sanit Sirivisitkul, head of the North Bangkok Poll at North Bangkok University, disclosed that a public opinion survey was conducted between 5 and 9 February 2026, sampling 960 respondents nationwide from all regions, on the topic "Public Expectations of the New Government and the Direction of National Administration." Respondents were asked the following question.

Regarding the most desired qualities in the new government, it was found that 72.6% of respondents want a government that is honest and transparent; 40.0% want one that listens to public opinion; 36.4% desire a modern vision; 35.4% want no history of corruption; 34.1% seek understanding of technology and the digital economy; 33.3% want expertise in specialized fields; 15.5% prefer a younger generation; and 1.2% mentioned other traits such as ending internal conflicts and punctuality.


The most important direction for the government to focus on is solving economic and cost-of-living issues, chosen by 44.4% of respondents; creating job opportunities for the younger generation, 18.5%; constitutional reform or political reform, 9.9%; educational reform, 8.4%; promoting the digital economy and startups, 8.0%; environmental protection and sustainable development, 5.3%; and equality and human rights, 5.1%.


Regarding main concerns about the new government's administration, respondents expressed worry about the economy not recovering (22.2%), lack of transparency (21.7%), policies that are unachievable (19.8%), political instability (13.3%), political conflicts (11.8%), and not listening to the younger generation (10.5%).
