Government Enhances Benefits for Sacrificers in High-Risk Areas, Expands Family Care Rights

The Assistant Ministers' Committee brainstormed to enhance healthcare rights and family care for sacrificers, initiating a pilot welfare program for soldiers who died for the nation.


On 11 Feb 2026 GMT+7, at the Strategy Room, Ministry of Defence Headquarters, the 2/2026 Assistant Ministers' Committee meeting took place, hosted by the Ministry of Defence. The discussion focused on improving healthcare welfare and family care rights for sacrificers in high-risk areas. Santi Piyatat, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, assigned Colonel Sanguanpong Pinsuwan, Assistant Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, to represent him at the meeting, which was welcomed by General Natthaphon Nakphanich, Minister of Defence.

General Natthaphon of the Ministry of Defence said the concept of welfare projects for families of soldiers who died protecting the nation's life, property, and sovereignty is excellent, as it concretely enhances welfare for families and relatives of heroes.

Aree Krainara, Chair of the Assistant Ministers' Committee, and General Nares Rak Thitathan, Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Defence, agreed that this project honors those who have done good for the country and should be implemented effectively. The welfare should not be limited to soldiers but also cover police officers, forestry officials, and private sector workers who have sacrificed.

Meanwhile, Colonel Sanguanpong Pinsuwan, Assistant Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, proposed starting with a pilot project focusing first on families of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national defense, before expanding to include other heroes from both public and private sectors in subsequent phases.

The meeting resolved to proceed by preparing to propose the project to the Prime Minister and scheduled a joint meeting with the National Health Security Office and Comptroller General's Department on 20 Feb 2026 GMT+7 to finalize details and prepare for submission to the Cabinet for approval.
