Thai Sang Thai Party Supports New Parliament Setting Up Committee to Prevent Violence in Schools After Tragic Incident in Songkhla

The spokesperson for the Thai Sang Thai Party supports the new parliament in setting up a committee to prevent violence in educational institutions, aiming to create safety for children and youth following the tragic incident in Songkhla. He emphasized the need to stop reviewing lessons without reaching conclusions.

On 12 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Pariyeth Angurakitti, spokesperson for the Thai Sang Thai Party, expressed deep condolences over the violent intrusion at a school in Songkhla Province. He urged the new House of Representatives to promptly establish a special committee to develop guidelines to prevent all types of violence in schools. He stressed that this would be a crucial mechanism enabling the government to reach clear conclusions for immediate implementation. He noted that past lessons from various governments often failed to yield tangible results because the issue spans multiple agencies and ministries. The fact that ministers come from different political parties complicates integration efforts. Therefore, using parliamentary mechanisms to find shared conclusions and then forwarding them to the Cabinet would be the best solution.

The spokesperson further stated that issues such as shootings, student-on-student violence, or the safety of young children all deeply affect parents who entrust their children’s lives to schools. Therefore, he urged the upcoming parliament to expedite the formation of this committee to allow sufficient time to consider necessary legal reforms or amendments. Although the Thai Sang Thai Party holds a small number of seats, he called on all major political parties to recognize the importance of this matter and collectively push it forward to sustainably ensure the safety of children and youth.
