12 Feb 2026 GMT+7 Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, gave an interview at Wat Rajabopit Sathit Mahasimaram Ratchaworawihan regarding the case of a gunman who stormed and took teachers and students hostage inside Phatong Prathan Kiriwat School in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. The school director, Mrs. Sasiphat Sinsomros, has recently died. He said, "I have been informed of the incident, and the police are urgently investigating and prosecuting. I have already issued orders since this heinous act demands strict action."
When pressed on whether drugs could be a cause and how authorities would respond, Prime Minister Anutin said, "Please ask the police for details. I understand it was due to a violent outburst. The police tried to arrest the suspect at his home, but he resisted and seized a gun. That is the preliminary report I have received. For further details, the police will provide explanations. Such issues must be addressed at the root." .
