Anutin emphasized that there is still time to decide who will join the government coalition. When asked whether it would be green or red, he replied "national flag colors." He revealed that today's party meeting aims to renovate the space to accommodate nearly 200 MPs and insisted they would not move the party office because of good feng shui and a strong party leader.
On 12 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke after participating in a merit-making ceremony offering alms to 108 monks and paying respects to the Supreme Patriarch at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram Ratchaworawihan. The ceremony honored the 9th anniversary since the Supreme Patriarch's installation, with offerings made to the late kings, Queen, and revered teachers.
The Prime Minister said the Supreme Patriarch always gave blessings when he paid respects and received precepts and blessings, but did not give any special instructions regarding continuing as Prime Minister, as Anutin had not inquired about this.
Anutin wore a wooden rosary necklace made from rosewood, which he said was a gift from devotees. When reporters asked if it symbolized strength, stability, and prosperity, Anutin joked that it was to support him so he wouldn't fall.
When asked if he had already decided on forming a government coalition, Anutin said there was still time since the Election Commission had not certified the results. The EC has 60 days, though last time it took 30 days. He said they must allow the EC to proceed without rushing, as it is beyond their control. Regarding forming a green or red coalition, Anutin said the important thing is which color would create a stable government, then added the answer was "national flag colors."
Regarding whether he would also keep the position of Minister of Interior, Anutin said that would be decided later. While waiting for the official announcement, they are considering multiple options to weigh advantages and disadvantages carefully. This period is for reviewing all factors to ensure the best outcome, listening daily to the people's expectations and aiming to meet them as much as possible.
When asked about today's meeting of Bhumjaithai MPs and whether they would consider MPs' opinions for government formation, Anutin said they gathered those confident of winning their constituencies to assess whether the party office could accommodate nearly 200 MPs, as it was originally designed for 60-70. They will see what renovations or changes are needed. Going forward, there must be space for MPs traveling from provinces to prepare before parliamentary sessions. When asked if they would temporarily relocate during renovations, Anutin said he preferred not to move because the current location brings good fortune; they might just expand rooms rather than extend the building.
When pressed again that many feel the space is too cramped for so many MPs, but since the feng shui is good they definitely won't move, Anutin said it was unlikely they would move. The office has housed 17 MPs, then 34, 51, 71, and now nearly 200. He considers the feng shui good and the party leader strong.
Regarding whether they would hold a merit-making ceremony to enhance auspiciousness for the party, Anutin said they do so regularly, then gestured to Somsak Thongsri, Deputy Minister of Interior, and said he was the master of ceremonies.
