Pradorn Questions Election Commissions Delay in Approving 2.2 Billion Baht Flood Relief Budget, Affirms Governments Readiness to Transfer Funds

Minister Pradorn, attached to the Prime Minister's Office, called on all parties to question the Election Commission (EC) about why it has not yet approved the 2.2 billion baht budget for flood relief aimed at citizens still awaiting aid, affirming that the government is ready to transfer the funds immediately once approval is granted.

12 Feb 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Pradorn Prisananantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, spoke regarding the disbursement of additional relief funds to flood victims in the lower northern, central, and southern regions, saying the government has never been complacent. However, since this occurred during the 2026 election campaign period, it was necessary for the Election Commission (EC) to review the matter first. The government has been continuously monitoring the EC’s consideration, most recently last week, aiming to get assistance to the people as soon as possible. Still, he could not help but question why approval has not yet been granted.

Mr. Pradorn further stated that on 13 Jan 2026, the Cabinet approved an additional central budget of 2.203 billion baht for the group of remaining applicants who registered later. Previously, the government had already disbursed relief funds in two rounds totaling over 20 billion baht. This budget is not for a new project but to pay eligible recipients missed in previous rounds. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has already provided the EC with complete details some time ago.

Regarding calls from some political parties urging the Prime Minister to expedite the payment process, Mr. Pradorn said the government has fully carried out its administrative duties. He therefore invites all parties to jointly question why the EC has yet to approve the funds, which are rightful relief money for affected citizens. "The EC must fully realize that every day of delay affects the livelihoods of fellow citizens still waiting for assistance. As soon as the EC approves, the government is ready to transfer the relief funds immediately."
