Kla Tham Unfazed by Bhumjaithai Negotiations with Small Parties, Boasts of Holding 58 Seats

"Kla Tham" has called a meeting for its 58 newly elected MPs on 17 February to discuss work plans. Thammanat is unfazed by Bhumjaithai's negotiations with small parties and is not worried about the national flag formula government.

On 12 February 2026, the Kla Tham party (KTH) reported it has scheduled a joint meeting of its leaders and all 58 prospective MPs (56 from constituencies and 2 from party lists) on 17 February at 3:00 p.m. The purpose is to prepare for parliamentary duties under House of Representatives rules and to set the party's strategic direction after emerging as a key swing party. However, so far there has been no contact from Bhumjaithai leaders inviting them to join the government.

Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, Kla Tham party advisor, assessed that government formation might extend until early April due to ongoing issues with vote counting and “misaligned ballots” in several areas, including his hometown of Phayao province. He said the Election Commission must urgently address these to ensure transparency because ignoring voters' voices could become a small spark leading to nationwide problems and public unrest.

When asked about Bhumjaithai's outreach to smaller parties, Lt. Col. Thammanat said it is normal for parties seeking to form a government. He is undeterred, holding 58 MPs and many like-minded allies. He said, “My political moves are quite extraordinary. Currently, the government formation equation is still uncertain. There's no need to worry about the Thai national flag formula — blue, white, red — because it might end up being a different color altogether.”
