Bhumjaithai is moving forward to form a government as Anutin orders negotiations with the parties ranked 3rd to 5th after the People's Party declined to cooperate.
On 12 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reports from the Bhumjaithai Party stated that currently more than 30 prospective MPs from other political parties have clearly expressed their intention to support Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of Bhumjaithai, as prime minister. This includes groups who have already presented themselves at the party and others awaiting an opportunity to be introduced later.
At a party meeting, Mr. Anutin outlined the government formation strategy, noting that since the party's votes are insufficient to form a single-party government, it is necessary to negotiate with other parties in order of their vote rankings. The second-ranked People's Party had previously declared it would not join the government, so negotiations will proceed with the 3rd to 5th ranked parties: Pheu Thai, Kla Tham, and the Democrat Party.
Mr. Anutin emphasized that the government will be officially formed only after the Election Commission certifies the results, and it must be based on public trust. He also declared that no party is excluded, despite past ideological conflicts. However, if parties join the government, all conflicts must cease to ensure maximum efficiency. The outcomes of these negotiations will be brought back for party members to review before making the final decision.
