
The Prime Minister celebrated the 66th birthday of the Emperor of Japan, highlighting 140 years of diplomatic friendship.
On 12 Feb 2026 GMT+7 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul represented the Thai government at a reception honoring the Emperor of Japan's birthday. Japanese Ambassador to Thailand Masato Otaka welcomed the event. The Prime Minister offered blessings for the Emperor's good health and long life, and extended best wishes for the prosperity of the Japanese people.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Thailand-Japan relationship is profound and adaptable amid rapid global changes. Both countries stand united in promoting security in the Indo-Pacific region and expanding cooperation in future economies such as digital innovation and artificial intelligence (AI), green energy, and building resilient supply chains.
On the occasion of the upcoming 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, the Prime Minister congratulated Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her election victory and affirmed readiness to work closely to elevate their strategic partnership further. He also expressed appreciation for the shared musical interests between the two leaders.
At the conclusion, the Prime Minister invited distinguished guests to join in a toast and to say “Banzai” as a lasting symbol of the enduring friendship between Thailand and Japan.
