"Sergeant Singh" launched a crackdown on the Nam Daeng waste pit to resolve over 20 years of foul odor and sewage problems, ordering action according to factory laws and stressing the issue must be resolved within 30 days.
On 12 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Sergeant Major Yotsingh Liamlert, Deputy Minister of Industry, accompanied by an integrated task force, visited the "Nam Daeng Community Waste Pit" in Village 5, Chachoengsao Province, to hear complaints about foul odors and polluted wastewater flowing into public canals. He emphasized that this visit was aimed at taking action, not merely receiving complaints, coordinating with the Ministry of Interior and local authorities to end the community's suffering.
Upon inspecting the more than 75-rai site, officials found multiple irregularities in the waste sorting factory operations, including installation of two sorting machines not authorized in the permits, unauthorized building modifications, and lack of clear zoning between the factory and waste pit contrary to regulations. The Chachoengsao Provincial Industry Office invoked authority under Section 37 of the Factory Act B.E. 2535 (1992) to order the operator to remove the machinery and correct the factory layout within 30 days.
Sergeant Major Yotsingh declared he would personally return to follow up when the deadline arrives to prevent ongoing issues. He intends to use this mission as a model for regulating waste management factories nationwide, ensuring all operate under uniform standards without causing pollution or harming public health and quality of life.
"I will personally follow up to ensure all issues are fully resolved... so that operations comply with the law and do not impact the surrounding communities," Sergeant Major Yotsingh said in closing.
