On 12 Feb 2026 GMT+7 at 17:00, Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, chaired the royal water bath and funeral rites for Mrs. Sasiphat Sinsomros, director of Phatong Prachan Khiriwat School, at Yung Thong Temple, Tha Chang Subdistrict, Bang Klam District, Songkhla Province. The event was held amidst a sorrowful atmosphere with family, relatives, fellow teachers, students, and members of the public paying their respects.
Professor Dr. Narumon stated that this event represents a major loss for the Ministry of Education and the education community in Songkhla Province. Director Sasiphat was a dedicated teacher who consistently contributed to education and goodwill for over 15 years, demonstrating remarkable sacrifice and courage in a critical moment.
Professor Dr. Narumon offered encouragement and donated personal funds to assist Director Sasiphat’s family, while also supporting the teachers and students. She assured that the Ministry of Education will provide full support, including welfare and safety measures in schools, to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Professor Dr. Narumon remarked that Director Sasiphat’s passing is not only a loss to her family but also to the education sector. She was a passionate educator who proved to society that being a “teacher” is more than a profession—it is a duty to protect students, even at the cost of one’s own life.
“This event is a great loss for the Ministry of Education and the education community in Songkhla Province. Director Sasiphat was a deeply committed teacher who continuously contributed to education and goodwill throughout her 15 years of service. She showed extraordinary bravery by risking her life as a hostage to protect students. I salute her courage and the educator’s spirit as a nation builder until her final moments,” Professor Dr. Narumon said.
On Tuesday, 17 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Rear Admiral Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister overseeing the Ministry of Education, along with Professor Dr. Narumon, will attend the royal cremation ceremony for Mrs. Sasiphat to pay respects and honor her final courageous act.
