The engagement is set: Prasert, Suriya, and Phumtham quietly meet with Anutin at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters at 2:30 p.m. to discuss government formation. Meanwhile, Pheu Thai MPs hold a session to review lessons after their election defeat and release the song "Pheu Thai Never Dies." Yotchanan declares his readiness to continue until victory belongs to the people.
On 13 February 2026 GMT+7, the Pheu Thai Party held its first MPs meeting following the election. The meeting aimed to prepare incoming MPs for their parliamentary roles and to review lessons learned from the recent election.
Before the meeting, party leaders arrived one by one. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, head of the Pheu Thai family, along with Phumtham Wechayachai and Yotchanan Wongsawat arrived at the party headquarters with cheerful expressions. They briefly said, "Today is to encourage the team and also to support the journalists."
Meanwhile, Suriya Juangroongruangkit, the party's election director, denied rumors that 30 MPs were preparing to join a government with Bhumjaithai Party, stating, "There is no such thing; it is not true."
Regarding the atmosphere of the MPs meeting, Yotchanan said he represented the prime ministerial candidate and came to communicate with everyone. Initially, he intended to offer encouragement but ended up receiving support himself, for which he was grateful. The first message he wanted to convey was to thank every voter. Every vote counts and none will be lost. Each voice gathered from canvassing in every district and household carries meaning. He urged that not a single vote should lose hope based on their feelings. This has been his consistent message.
Yotchanan emphatically stated he will not abandon Pheu Thai until victory belongs to the people.
Yotchanan discussed his future role, saying if everyone remains united, he will not leave Pheu Thai. He will continue to work alongside everyone and the Thai people under the party's banner until victory is achieved by the people. Defeat is acceptable if it is honest. Therefore, the first priority is to fight seriously against any corruption. This is the party’s first stance.
Secondly, he believes defeat is natural, but understanding the cause is the start of a great victory and a comeback. He urged everyone to compile information about what happened in certain areas, as many factors affected this election. If everyone provides information, feelings, issues, and even evidence from the district level, they can gather these insights. He apologized sincerely for not being able to visit all areas during the election but affirmed they did their best with no regrets. He praised the team and candidates again and promised to begin fieldwork immediately if everything is fair and transparent.
"Elections are not just about MPs; Pheu Thai has many elections throughout the year. I pledge not to go anywhere if the party’s executive committee trusts me and if everyone stands together. We are ready to move forward together. Since leaving university, I have no intention of going back. My office is right here upstairs. Today, I want to encourage everyone. I know how painful it is that many did not enter parliament, but I will not abandon anyone and will do my best to help us return in the next election," Yotchanan said.
After Yotchanan’s speech, the media were asked to leave the meeting room to continue the session. Meanwhile, Pheu Thai released the song "Pheu Thai Never Dies," whose lyrics encourage that even in defeat, they are not dead, and if they fall, they can rise again.
The engagement to discuss forming a government with Anutin at Bhumjaithai Party headquarters is set for 2:30 p.m.
Later, at 12:35 p.m., Prasert Chantraruangthong, secretary-general of Pheu Thai, along with Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Pheu Thai’s prime ministerial candidate and election director, and Phumtham Wechayachai, a party leader, held a press conference following a joint meeting of candidates and prospective MPs.
Prasert said the morning meeting reviewed lessons from the election and gathered opinions to conclude that Pheu Thai will continue its mission to serve the people. He noted concerns among the public about discrepancies in the number of ballots nationwide and issues with QR code barcodes possibly conflicting with the constitution. Pheu Thai calls on the Election Commission to expedite clarifications on these issues to ensure transparency in vote counting, reduce conflicts, and uphold democratic legitimacy.
Prasert added that Pheu Thai had officially been contacted by leaders of Bhumjaithai Party inviting them to discuss government formation. Throughout the campaign, Pheu Thai accepted the people's decision and had no restrictions on working with any party to move the country forward and benefit the people. Accordingly, he, Suriya, and Phumtham will go to Bhumjaithai Party headquarters at 2:30 p.m. to meet Anutin Charnvirakul, head of Bhumjaithai Party. Details or conclusions will be announced later. They do not come with conditions but will listen to Bhumjaithai’s proposals and will honor the invitation.
