Examining Election Ballot Samples: Green, Pink, and Yellow Ballots from the Election Commission Show No Barcodes

A review of the Election Commission's (EC) sample ballots in all three versions—the green ballot for constituency MP elections, the pink ballot for party-list MP elections, and the yellow ballot for the constitutional referendum—shows no presence of barcodes.

On 13 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted that images circulated online show ballot stubs containing ballot numbers, booklet numbers, and barcodes at the end of the party-list MP ballots. This raises concerns about voter secrecy and potential conflicts with the 2017 Constitution's Article 85, which mandates that MP elections be conducted by "direct and secret voting." Additionally, Section 96 of the 2018 Election Act prohibits anyone from intentionally marking ballots in any identifiable way.

Upon reviewing the sample ballots provided by the Election Commission—including the green constituency MP ballot, the pink party-list MP ballot, and the yellow referendum ballot—no barcodes were found on any of these sample ballots.
