Lawyer Thanu Rungrojruangchai has filed a lawsuit against the Election Commission at the Central Administrative Court, demanding a new election concerning the barcodes and QR codes on ballots, and requesting a suspension of the election results announcement until the court rules.
Following concerns raised that barcodes and QR codes on ballots could allow tracking back to the individual voter, effectively voiding this election, as previously reported.
Regarding this issue, recently, lawyer Thanu Rungrojruangchaiposted a photo with a message on Facebook stating: "Latest update: The Central Administrative Court has issued case number 304/2569 regarding concerns that ballots contain barcodes and QR codes that allow tracing back to the source, enabling tracking of which ballot was cast by whom, causing the February 8, 2026 election to lose ballot secrecy.
I have filed a lawsuit against the Election Commission at the Central Administrative Court via e-Filing, requesting that
1. A new election be held, with ballots printed to prevent tracking, and all previously cast ballots be destroyed.
2. The court urgently rule as in item 1, under section 49/2 of the Supreme Administrative Court Judges' Assembly regulations on administrative case procedures, since a general election for members of the House of Representatives is a matter of significant public interest, determining the country's direction. Delaying destruction of cast ballots risks tracing votes back to individual voters' choices.
3. The court suspend the certification of election results until a ruling is issued.
4. The court issue an urgent order as in item 3, according to section 76/1 of the Supreme Administrative Court Judges' Assembly regulations, because the defendant may certify election results at any time, which could cause irreparable harm once certification occurs."
Further updates will be reported.
