Pheu Thai Mends Fences with Bhumjaithai, Prepares to Court Kla Tham

Anutin and Yotsanan announced a coalition government, erasing past conflicts and focusing on seamless cooperation, while preparing to approach "Kla Tham" to strengthen the alliance.

On 13 Feb 2026 at Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, Prime Minister and Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul, together with Yotsanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai Party’s prime ministerial candidate, and key leaders from both parties, held an official press conference following talks on forming a new government. The atmosphere was cordial.

Anutin said he felt honored that Pheu Thai accepted the invitation to discuss preventing a prolonged political vacuum. Although the election results are not yet official, Pheu Thai initially agreed to support Bhumjaithai as the leading party in forming the government. He expressed confidence that quality personnel from both parties could drive the country toward a sustainable future. He emphasized that all sides should forget past grievances and work together as one government without party divisions for the common good.

Regarding ministerial appointments, Anutin said detailed discussions would follow. Concerning the Kla Tham Party, which holds the fourth-largest number of MPs, he confirmed they will proceed step by step with invitations to strengthen the government. Meanwhile, the Prachachon Party has clearly stated it will not join a coalition with Bhumjaithai, leading to today’s cooperation between Bhumjaithai and Pheu Thai.

Yotsanan thanked the prime minister for honoring Pheu Thai and said he had come personally to negotiate as promised. Meanwhile, Pheu Thai Secretary-General Prasert Chanruangthong reaffirmed the party’s position to support Bhumjaithai in forming the government and congratulated Bhumjaithai on its election success.

At the end of the press conference, Anutin joked to reporters, “Don’t congratulate me today; it’s my wedding day.” When asked if the marriage registration was complete, he simply replied, “My child is about to start school, so we married.”

Anutin declined to answer questions about resolving past legal issues before escorting Yotsanan and Pheu Thai leaders to their vehicle. He embraced Kanapoj Jomrit to demonstrate the good relationship between the two parties.
