Prasert stressed that the country needs a strong government and explained the reasons why Pheu Thai is joining forces with Bhumjaithai, confident that their supporters will understand.
On 13 February 2026, Mr. Prasert Chantraruangthong, Secretary-General of the Pheu Thai Party, together with Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, the party's election director, and Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, a party leader, held a joint press conference after meeting with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, head of the Bhumjaithai Party, to outline plans for forming a coalition government. Mr. Prasert said the party was honored to be invited by Bhumjaithai to join the government. The main reason for accepting was the belief that the country needs to move forward under a strong and stable government. Regarding concerns that party supporters might oppose this, he expressed confidence that they would understand the party's intentions, as being part of the government can bring more benefits to the nation than remaining in opposition.
Mr. Phumtham addressed legal issues that had been points of dispute in the past, affirming that everything must follow existing justice processes and laws. It is the responsibility of the ministers overseeing each ministry to carry out their duties. Pheu Thai will not hesitate to do what is right; they support all correct actions and are ready to take on any challenge.
Mr. Suriya revealed that discussions with party members and prospective MPs showed that most support joining the coalition because they want the party’s policies to be implemented concretely for the benefit of their local constituents. It is also seen as a key opportunity to deliver results that restore public trust. He confirmed that initial talks have not yet covered details such as ministry allocation or the number of ministerial seats, which will be addressed in subsequent discussions.
