Government Seizes Over 42,451 Pieces of Intellectual Property-Infringing Goods Worth More Than 223 Million Baht

The government seized a large shipment of over 42,451 pieces of intellectual property-infringing goods, including bags, shoes, and watches from well-known brands, causing damages exceeding 223 million baht. Authorities have ordered intensified and continuous crackdowns.

On 14 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced the results of government policy enforcement integrating efforts to combat the smuggling of intellectual property-infringing goods. Through cooperation among the Department of Intellectual Property, Customs Department, and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), authorities seized counterfeit and substandard illegal goods at Laem Chabang Port Customs Office, Bangkok Port, the bonded area in Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, and Aranyaprathet Customs Office, Sa Kaeo Province, between 13 Jan and 6 Feb 2026. A total of 42,451 pieces were seized, with damages valued at more than 223 million baht.
         
Most of the seized goods were counterfeit copyrighted and trademarked products from famous brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, Prada, and Balenciaga. The items included bags, shoes, watches, perfumes, shock absorbers, automotive brake pads, and solar light fixtures.
         
Regarding intellectual property infringement crackdowns by the Customs Department during the 2026 fiscal year (1 Oct 2025–6 Feb 2026), authorities seized 38 cases of smuggled goods violating trademarks and copyrights, with estimated economic damages exceeding 885 million baht. These goods are prohibited from import into the kingdom under the Trademark Act B.E. 2534 (1991), the Export and Import of Goods Act B.E. 2522 (1979), the Ministry of Commerce announcement declaring trademark- and copyright-infringing goods as prohibited for export, import, and transit B.E. 2565 (2022), and the Act Prohibiting Entry of Goods with False Indications of Origin B.E. 2481 (1938).
         
“The government has ordered relevant agencies to proactively integrate efforts, strictly inspect, and seize intellectual property-infringing and illegal substandard goods. The public is also urged to participate in monitoring and preventing intellectual property violations.
