Former Pheu Thai Spokesperson Accepts All Opinions on Joining Bhumjaithai-led Government, Denies Power Hunger

Former Pheu Thai spokesperson Prompong accepts the opinions of the public and academics regarding Pheu Thai joining the Bhumjaithai-led government. He denies any hunger for power, noting that the nation's and people's problems require cooperation and urgent solutions.

On 14 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Prompong Noparit, former spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, said the party has been approached by the Bhumjaithai Party to join the government. Responses from Pheu Thai supporters and academics have varied, including disagreement and agreement, as well as input from 74 prospective MPs and former MPs from different perspectives. We accept and respect all views. Some academics, including political scientist Mr. Yutthaporn Isarachai from Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, support Pheu Thai joining the government—not merely for power but to advance the campaign policies that benefit the people.

Mr. Prompong said that as a campaign assistant, he agrees with the party leadership's decision. Today, the people's problems must be the priority. The party's campaign speeches included policies promised to the people that must be pushed forward, addressing health issues, improving quality of life, the economic well-being of citizens and farmers, as well as social, environmental, and technological challenges—all awaiting tangible and effective solutions.

"Forming a government is the prime minister's prerogative. Joining the government is not driven by a hunger for power or desire to govern. There are many policies still to be advanced together. The future roles and responsibilities are uncertain, but whatever tasks are assigned, I trust the party's personnel will promote Pheu Thai's policies within the coalition to benefit the nation and its people, as our party's slogan says, ‘Pheu Thai can do it.’ Wherever we can work effectively for the public good, party members are ready to serve and improve conditions as promised to the people."
