Pheu Thai Explains Joining Government to Uphold Public Mandate, Not for Power

Khattiya Sawasdipol explained that Pheu Thai's decision to join the Bhumjaithai-led government is not driven by a desire for power, but by responsibility to the people's mandate. She pointed out that as opposition, the party would be unable to advance its policies and assured that voters' support would not be wasted.

On 14 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Khattiya Sawasdipol, Deputy Secretary-General of Pheu Thai Party, posted on X regarding the party's decision to join the government with Bhumjaithai Party. She said electing Pheu Thai to serve the Thai people is a mission they are determined to fulfill. The decision to join the government is not about power but about responsibility to the voters who entrusted them to govern.

If Pheu Thai chose to be in opposition, the policies chosen by the people could not be implemented effectively, which would mean the voters' support would be wasted.

Pheu Thai has consistently maintained that good policies must not only address the people's problems but also be feasible, deliverable, and produce real results. Therefore, joining the government is not the easy path but the most responsible choice for the country and the voters' mandate.

Our election policies are designed to cover all ministries, meaning that regardless of our assigned responsibilities, we are ready to proceed immediately. This includes stimulating the economy, reducing expenses, increasing income, improving skills, and enhancing the quality of life for all Thais, all of which require executive power to implement effectively.

Thailand is facing multiple challenges that no single political party can solve alone. Cooperation among parties is necessary to move the country forward. We accept all criticism, take responsibility for outcomes, and are ready to prove ourselves through daily work.

We want all Pheu Thai supporters to be confident that their votes will definitely not be wasted.
