Yotchanan revealed that Pheu Thai faces two choices that are not easy. He acknowledged differing opinions within the party but said most favor joining the government. He pointed out the urgent need to solve livelihood issues and affirmed he will stand with Pheu Thai until victory.
On 14 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Yotchanan Wongsawat, Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, posted on his personal Facebook after the party decided to join the government with Bhumjaithai Party. He said that he has discussed and exchanged views with many groups and organizations in every situation possible, including meetings with all teams involved.
From these discussions with many people and organizations, most agree that the global and Thai social contexts have changed significantly. The political factors in this election are complex, and it is true that political management and resource utilization play a major role in election outcomes.
My stance and that of Pheu Thai is to respect and accept the decision of the people, as previously stated. There are some points I want to share with everyone now.
1. I still hold that election honesty and transparency are paramount. I believe the public's concerns on many aspects carry weight that the Election Commission, as the responsible body, must listen to and clarify with facts. They should cooperate fully with all examination processes to maintain the election's legitimacy under democratic principles. Pheu Thai's legal team is also addressing this matter and will monitor progress until a conclusion is reached.
2. I will take responsibility for every vote from the people to the best of my ability. Everything discussed, promised, or pledged in all areas, including problems reported by candidates, we will work with talented individuals from all sides—party personnel, government mechanisms, private sector groups, and relevant civil society—to do our utmost within our political position and capabilities. All issues within our authority will be addressed continuously.
Revealing two options, acknowledging differing opinions but majority favor government participation.
After unofficial election results were known, we face two choices to decide: join the government or be the opposition. This is not an easy decision for Pheu Thai, which has previously led the government and earned long-standing public recognition for its administration.
I understand there are both supporters and critics, especially among loyal supporters who have differing views on both options. We have thought deeply, exchanged opinions, and listened to many within the party. Although discussion time was limited, most agree we should be part of the government coalition.
As the party's nominated prime ministerial candidate, who has consistently affirmed commitment to every situation, I am ready to walk together with everyone on the path we choose.
If today's steps cause discomfort to anyone, I sincerely apologize. I have read, heard, and always listen to everyone's opinions with respect.
The acceptance of an invitation from the Bhumjaithai Party leader to discuss government formation and the joint press conference, where Pheu Thai announced support for Bhumjaithai as the leading party under the parliamentary system, is the latest development. I will report every step of the process going forward.
Emphasizing urgent need to resolve livelihood problems and affirming commitment to stand with Pheu Thai until victory.
Personally, I see the urgent issue as solving economic livelihood problems comprehensively for people in all areas, integrating cooperation across several relevant ministries to assist, and creating opportunities to establish a new economic engine for the country.
We will work tirelessly and fully every minute to prove that we can do it and rebuild confidence. I am ready to take responsibility for everything that happens. Even though I entered at a time of defeat, I will stand with Pheu Thai until the day we win again together.
I am confident I can do it and am always ready to listen to everyone, whether we agree or disagree. Democracy is always great and beautiful.
