Pheu Thai Joining Government Offers Greater Opportunity to Serve the People, Denies Becoming Part of Bhumjaithai Party

Julaphan emphasized that Pheu Thai joining the government formation offers more opportunities to address the people's issues than remaining in opposition. The decision was made with responsibility to every vote from the public who elected them, and he denied that this means becoming part of the Bhumjaithai Party.

At 11:37 AM on 15 Feb 2026 GMT+7. Mr. Julaphan Amornwiwat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party. posted a statement viaFacebook. After Pheu Thai (PT) joined the government formation with the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT). He said that Pheu Thai has worked fully to present policies aimed at making Thailand a country where people have opportunities, security, and genuinely better lives. They campaigned and proposed their policies hoping that Thai people would clearly trust them to bring them into power and allow implementation of those policies. They hope the majority of voters will enable them to work and fulfill their role completely.

Mr. Julaphan further stated, "When the election results came out, we did not receive enough votes, which is not the people's fault. The fact that the public did not choose us sufficiently is something we respect and must reflect on to reconsider which policies still do not meet the people's needs and how to improve them. To honor the trust of the people in the future, at the same time, the fact that the people chose Bhumjaithai as the number one party with a significant lead over second place is a decision we must respect, as it represents the voice of the people in a democratic system.

"As the third-ranked party, we must carefully consider whether to join the government or be in opposition, asking ourselves which path truly allows us to serve the people effectively. After thorough consideration, joining the government offers us more opportunity to solve problems for the people than remaining in opposition."

The Pheu Thai leader also revealed that the people's voices are diverse, and working with Bhumjaithai means collaborating with another party representing a different segment of the populace. Joining the government does not mean we become identical or part of Bhumjaithai. We maintain independence in our stance, ideology, and clearly define the scope of cooperation.

Regarding issues about Senate collusion and the "he khadong" (ambiguous term likely referring to a political controversy), Mr. Julaphan said they continue their work realizing that they are not the majority voice in parliament nor the main government leader. If the public wanted them to have full power over this matter, they would have given them an overwhelming vote. The current results reflect that this issue may not be the top priority for most people. The democratic parliamentary system principle is such, and we must respect that reality. Pheu Thai's core principle is respecting the people's decisions, and under the limitation of votes received, we will use every vote to benefit those who elected us as much as possible.

"Ultimately, if we make wrong decisions or fail to perform well, the public will decide our fate again in the next election. We fully realize that every decision we make carries responsibility to the people because every choice by Pheu Thai is made with responsibility to all the votes that elected us."
