"Teng Natthapong," leader of the People’s Party, fears that voter data from the 2026 election may have been leaked. He indicated the process might not be direct or confidential and urged the Election Commission to promptly destroy ballots and organize a new election as soon as possible.,
15 Feb 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People’s Party (PPP). He stated that yesterday (14 February), a white hat hacker revealed vulnerabilities in government agency systems to prompt quick fixes. It was reported that these issues were addressed overnight. However, before that, voter data including the order of names on voter lists at each polling station—information that can be combined to identify how individuals voted—had already leaked to the public or malicious parties. Additionally, some ballot papers with barcodes on the bottom have been shared online because observers at polling stations photographed election officials holding up ballots, revealing both the barcodes and the selected candidate on those ballots.
Mr. Natthapong continued, If there are images of the stub containing the order and card number linked to the barcode in a monitored polling station, along with images of the ballot, these three pieces of information combined in even one case can identify how a particular voter cast their ballot. This proves that the Election Commission’s claim—that while barcodes can be traced back to stubs, the entire process is direct and confidential—is not true. Because throughout the election process, many individuals were involved, including election officials, media, and observers. The greatest risk now is that two-thirds of this data has already been made public. Even one case proves the process is neither direct nor confidential.
When asked if this could be considered election fraud, Mr. Natthapong said that legally, intent by state officials must be examined. What has been proven now is a mistake, whether due to negligence or intentional system design allowing tracing of voters’ choices. Either way, it is a fault that should never have happened. Regarding the People’s Party has already taken all necessary actions, including filing criminal complaints under Sections 157 and 172.
. He urged the Election Commission (EC) to admit the mistake and act swiftly without delaying until court orders are issued, as that would take too long and increase risks. For example, state officials with access to ballot boxes might retrieve sensitive data. The EC should promptly order destruction of ballots and arrange a new election as soon as possible. That would be the correct and necessary course of action. .
