Announcement Declares Chinese New Year on 17 Feb 2026 a Public Holiday in Songkhla Province Following Cabinet Resolution

Chinese New Year on 17 Feb 2026 has been declared a "public holiday in Songkhla Province," covering all government agencies throughout the province according to a Cabinet resolution. This aligns with the region’s multicultural context alongside other important religious holidays.

On 15 February 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwivatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that following the Cabinet resolution on 13 August 2013 and the Prime Minister’s Office announcement on working hours and public holidays (No. 21) dated 16 August 2013, Chinese New Year is designated as an annual public holiday in Songkhla Province.

The Deputy Government Spokesperson further stated, “Since Chinese New Year in the Buddhist year 2569 falls on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, that day is declared a one-day public holiday covering all government offices in Songkhla Province, including schools and state universities, to comply with the Cabinet resolution and the Prime Minister’s Office announcement.”

Additionally, the designation of Chinese New Year as a public holiday in Songkhla Province aims to reflect the multicultural context of the area, alongside other important religious holidays such as Eid al-Fitr (Hari Raya Puasa) and Eid al-Adha (Hari Raya Haji). Furthermore, citizens and relevant agencies are urged to plan their official business and travel in advance. The government emphasizes its commitment to facilitating public convenience and respecting cultural diversity across all regions of the country.
