Sudarat confronts the Election Commission with evidence, demanding it stop suing citizens who help expose corruption in order to cover up its own mistakes. She emphasizes the need for transparency, not excuses.
On 17 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, former leader of the Thai Sang Thai Party, commented on the Election Commission's work amid findings of non-transparency in storing election ballot stubs. She stated the EC is cornered by clear evidence in regulations that require storing ballot stubs in ballot boxes, yet the commission has issued confusing excuses. The most shameful aspect is that the EC has established a unit to prosecute polling station officials and well-meaning citizens who have released videos and photos of irregularities, even though these people are crucial in defending the democratic system.
Khunying Sudarat further stressed that the EC's main duty today is not to sue and silence the public but to disclose all evidence to the public to end doubts. If the EC continues to abuse its power to cover up its mistakes, it should beware of the public's power to use legal rights to sue back, holding responsible officials accountable in court. "The people do not want excuses; they want verifiable transparency."
