Royal Cremation Held for Director Sasiphat, Victim of Deranged Man Taking Students Hostage

The Prime Minister knelt to console the mother of the Pattong school director, praising her heroic sacrifice in saving her students. He ordered that her two children be accepted into civil service and provided free education through graduation.


On 17 February 2026 at Yuang Thong Temple in Bang Klam District, Songkhla Province, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the royal cremation ceremony for Mrs. Sasiphat Sinsomros, director of Pattong Prachanakeereewat School, who died in the line of duty during an incident involving a deranged man taking students hostage. Cabinet members including Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister Bawornsak Uwanno, and Education Minister Narumon Pinyosinwat attended, alongside numerous government officials and citizens paying their respects.


Upon arrival, the Prime Minister consoled the deceased's husband, Mr. Jetsada Sinsomros, and their two children, Mr. Suvichak and Miss Thanthon, before offering encouragement to the director’s mother. He knelt and bowed at her lap, saying, “My deepest apologies,” and comforted her not to worry, urging her to be strong as the government will care for her grandchildren, touching all present deeply.


Regarding assistance, Deputy Prime Minister Bawornsak Uwanno presented 1 million baht from the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and an additional 200,000 baht in compensation from the Ministry of Justice, witnessed by the Prime Minister. Furthermore, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Education to cover the tuition fees for both children until they complete their studies and to prepare for their future civil service appointments in recognition of their mother’s sacrifice.


After the ceremony, the Prime Minister declined to comment on political matters, briefly stating that he would immediately attend a security meeting in the area to devise measures to prevent and address similar violent incidents from recurring.
