
The Cabinet has approved all categories of civil servants to take leave to participate in the mass ordination of 93 monks, dedicated as a royal merit offering to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, with this leave not counted as official leave days.
On 17 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the Cabinet approved all types of civil servants, government employees, permanent and temporary employees of government agencies, state agencies, and state enterprises to take leave to join the mass ordination project of 93 monks. This is to respectfully dedicate royal merit to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, Patron of the Ruamjit Nomklao Foundation for Youth, from 27 February to 9 March 2026, a total of 10 days. This leave will not be counted as official leave, will be treated as official duty or work, and salaries will be paid as usual, according to the proposal by the Ministry of Interior.
This initiative aims to encourage government personnel, civil society partners, and the public to express gratitude and reverence for the royal grace, while also providing an opportunity for self-development and performing good deeds as exemplary behavior for future generations.
