Election Commission Investigates Whether Discarded Election Documents in Garbage Pit Were an Attempt to Create a Situation

The Election Commission clarified that election documents from Samut Prakan Constituency 6 found discarded in a garbage pit in the Phra Samut Chedi area do not affect the election results or the integrity and fairness of the process. They are urgently investigating whether this was an attempt to create a disruptive situation and affirm that legal action will definitely be taken.


On 17 Feb 2026 at 17:55 GMT+7, the Office of the Election Commission issued a statement regarding the discovery of election documents related to the Samut Prakan Constituency 6 parliamentary election and referendum materials found in a garbage pit in Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province. The EC has reviewed and confirmed that these documents were used at polling stations and the information was utilized to complete the election and vote counting processes, with results already reported. Therefore, this incident does not affect the election results or the integrity and fairness of the election. However, the documents found are currently in the storage process. The EC office is investigating how the documents appeared at the incident site, whether there were any procedural flaws or irregularities, or if any individuals caused this act. The EC will proceed with legal action as required.
