Election Commission Refutes Sarinees Claim of 320,000 Discrepant Ballots

The Election Commission (EC) has refuted Sarinee Achavanangkool's explanation about the hot issue of "discrepant ballots" exceeding 320,000 across 390 constituencies, stating it is untrue and affirming that official MP vote count results can be checked on their website.

On 18 Feb 2026 at 13:45 GMT+7, the Election Commission issued a statement clarifying that independent academic Sarinee Achavanangkool posted on her personal Facebook page on 17 Feb, questioning the "discrepant ballots." The EC noted that social media reported her message claiming "Someone please tell the EC that the 66,000 ballots are just the net discrepancy (pink > green minus green > pink) nationwide. The discrepant ballots (green-pink) related at the constituency level total over 324,000, with discrepancies in 390 of 400 constituencies."

The EC clarified that this information is not true. Official vote count results for MPs, both by constituency and party list, can be verified on the Election Commission's official website (www.ect.go.th) or the websites of the provincial EC offices or Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
