"Ruangkrai" leaves Palang Pracharath Party, submits resignation to the Election Commission, declaring that small parties have no standing and preparing to take on an independent role to pursue the "barcode" and "Specter C" issues.
On 18 February 2026, Mr. Ruangkrai Likitjawat, a member of Palang Pracharath Party, submitted his resignation letter to the Election Commission. He stated his desire for independence to freely investigate various complaints after PPRP's election defeat, which left them with only five MPs, and to have a more convenient position. Before resigning, he met and had a meal with Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, the party leader, who expressed respect for his decision and maintained good relations.
Going forward, Mr. Ruangkrai plans to investigate election transparency issues, especially the controversial "barcode" on ballots, which many see as violating the direct and secret voting principles (Section 85). However, he suggests considering Section 83, paragraph two as well. He warned groups trying to annul the election to carefully examine all facts and laws, since reviewing 30 to 40 million ballots retrospectively is difficult. He recommended focusing instead on the "incomplete ballots" issue, which the Election Commission should clarify promptly.
Additionally, Mr. Ruangkrai referenced the "Specter C" system case, currently targeting the People's Party. He noted that defenses by Ms. Panika Wanich might backfire if investigations find the party interfered, held shares, or used fund money to pay the company, potentially leading to party dissolution. He said he has gathered all information but will hold off revealing details until after observing the success of government formation first.
