Thanakorn is promoting “Yarang Soft Raisins” as an edible cultural Soft Power product registered with Geographical Indication (GI) status, ensuring premium quality. Plans are set to expand online sales and exports.
On 18 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Minister of Industry, visited Pratupho Wittaya School to monitor the progress of supporting community enterprises producing famous soft raisins, including the Mae Luean, Adul Luk Yee, Weerachart, and Weerawong groups. He stated that “Yarang Soft Raisins” are not just ordinary wild fruit but represent the identity of Southern Thailand with a distinct spicy flavor. They have been registered as a Geographical Indication (GI), a key strength to elevate them into premium products that proudly reflect Pattani’s way of life.
Thanakorn emphasized that the Ministry of Industry is ready to support all aspects, including applying technology in production, modernizing packaging design, and expanding sales channels both offline and online. This aims to help community products reach a broad customer base and international markets. Currently, local producers are strong, such as the “Weerawong 3” group with a production capacity of up to 8,000 kilograms per month, generating over 510,000 baht in income, and the “Weerachart” group, which circulates income of more than 330,000 baht per month. These groups serve as successful models of grassroots industries ready to compete globally.
