Royal Decree Revokes Ranks of 15 Military Officers and Recalls Their Decorations

The Royal Gazette published a proclamation of a royal command to revoke the military ranks of 15 commissioned officers and to recall their royal decorations.


On 20 February 2026, the Royal Gazette website published a Prime Minister's Office announcement regarding the royal permission to revoke military ranks and recall royal decorations. The royal command granted permission to revoke the ranks of 15 commissioned officers under Section 12 of the Military Rank Act.

The Military Rank Act of 1936, as amended by the Military Rank Act (No. 6) of 1958, along with the Ministry of Defence regulations concerning individuals unfit to hold military ranks and titles (1954), Articles 2 and 4, and the Prime Minister's Office regulations on requesting royal permission to recall royal decorations (2005), Articles 6 and 7 (1)(2)(4), authorized recalling all classes of royal decorations granted to these 15 officers.

The details are as follows:


Affiliated with the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters:

1. Commander Thongchai Suksri was stripped of his rank effective 28 July 2025 due to serious military disciplinary violations and had his Knight Commander (Second Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant recalled.


Affiliated with the Royal Thai Army:

2. Lieutenant Colonel Chawanun Theeracharoenwong was stripped of his rank effective 5 June 2025 for serious military misconduct and had the Knight Commander (Second Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, Knight Commander of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant, Commander (Third Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, Commander of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant, and Chak Mala Medal recalled.

Lieutenant Colonel Apichat Ngarnrungruang was stripped of his rank effective 18 August 2025 due to serious military disciplinary violations and had the Knight Commander of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant and Companion (Fourth Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand recalled.

4. Captain Chaimongkol Worathat was stripped of his rank effective 24 April 2025 due to serious military misconduct and had the Commander (Third Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant recalled.

5. Captain Phatthanaphon Boonnarong was stripped of his rank effective 1 May 2025 for serious military disciplinary violations and had the Commander (Third Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant recalled.


6. Captain Supachai Phaso was stripped of his rank effective 9 November 2022 following a final death sentence for crimes including homicide, offenses against liberty, document-related crimes, offenses against justice officials, electronic ID card violations, theft, fraud, receiving stolen goods, offenses related to corpses, computer crime law violations, national ID card law violations, and criminal procedure code violations. His royal decoration, Commander (Third Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, was recalled.

7. Captain Suchat Busdidwong was stripped of his rank effective 30 November 2024 for military desertion during active duty and had the Companion (Fourth Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand and Chak Mala Medal recalled.

8. First Lieutenant Somkiat Yangdee was stripped of his rank effective 24 April 2025 due to serious military disciplinary violations and had the Commander (Third Class) and Companion (Fourth Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand recalled.

9. First Lieutenant Prompong Kamnoi was stripped of his rank effective 20 June 2025 for serious military misconduct and had the Chak Mala Medal recalled.

10. First Lieutenant Natcharapong Srisakda was stripped of his rank effective 20 April 2025 following a final prison sentence for offenses including trespassing, violations against liberty, indecency, rape of a child under 15 years (not his wife), regardless of consent, and abducting a child under 15 years without lawful cause for indecency. His royal decorations, Companion (Fourth Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand and Chak Mala Medal, were recalled.


11. First Lieutenant Thanongsak Boonjuanjan was stripped of his rank effective 5 August 2025 due to serious military disciplinary violations and had the Companion (Fourth Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand and Gold Medal of the White Elephant recalled.

12. Second Lieutenant Phattanapong Phanomkul was stripped of his rank effective 26 June 2025 for serious military misconduct and had the Companion (Fourth Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand and Gold Medal of the White Elephant recalled.

13. Second Lieutenant Thawatchai Mangmee was stripped of his rank effective 7 October 2025 due to serious military disciplinary violations and had the Companion (Fourth Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand recalled.

14. Lieutenant Commander Pongtiwat or Komet Pinitmontri was stripped of his rank effective 25 September 2024

for desertion during active military service (in an area under martial law) and had the Knight Commander of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant, Knight Commander of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, Commander of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant, Commander of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, and Chak Mala Medal recalled.

Affiliated with the Royal Thai Air Force:

15. Air Commander Santichai Panyathong was stripped of his rank effective 23 March 2024 following a final prison sentence for attempted murder and violations of the Arms, Ammunition, Explosives, Fireworks, and Imitation Firearms Act of 1947, finalized on 3 March 2024. His royal decorations, Knight Commander of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, Commander and Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, Gold Medal of the White Elephant, and Chak Mala Medal, were recalled.

These 15 commissioned officers have been removed from the list of recipients of royal decorations as per the related Prime Minister's Office announcements.
