
The Royal Gazette announced a royal decree ordering the removal of rank from three former police officers and the recall of all royal decorations granted to them.
On 20 Feb 2026, the Royal Gazette website published a Prime Minister's Office announcement regarding royal permission to strip police ranks and recall royal decorations. The royal command granted permission to remove the ranks of three former police officers under Section 58 of the National Police Act, B.E. 2565 (2022), in accordance with the National Police Office regulations on rank removal B.E. 2565 (2022), Section 4(4). It also granted permission to recall all royal decorations awarded to them, under Sections 6 and 7(4) of the Prime Minister's Office regulations on requesting royal permission to recall decorations, B.E. 2548 (2005), as follows.
1. Police Lieutenant Colonel Uthen Thakchino was stripped of his police rank effective 7 Nov 2016 due to serious disciplinary violations and was ordered discharged from service. His royal decorations, including the Order of the White Elephant, Order of the Crown of Thailand, and the Fourth Class of the Order of the White Elephant, were recalled.
2. Police Captain Wasuwat, also known as Payungsak Theeramethaset or Somnokraisakrit, was stripped of his police rank effective 25 Aug 2020 due to serious disciplinary violations and was ordered discharged from service. His royal decorations, including the Fourth Class of the Order of the Crown of Thailand, the White Elephant Medal, and the Chakramala Medal, were recalled.
3. Police Lieutenant Panyawachira Chanda was stripped of his police rank effective 4 Nov 2021 due to serious disciplinary violations and was ordered discharged from service. His royal decorations, including the Fourth Class of the Order of the Crown of Thailand, the White Elephant Pentagonal Medal, the Crown Pentagonal Medal, the Second Class of the Protector of Freedom Medal, the Border Service Medal, and the White Elephant Medal, were recalled.
These three individuals have been removed from the official lists of royal decoration recipients according to relevant Prime Minister's Office announcements.
