Thai Sang Thai Party Emphasizes Anti-Corruption Agenda, Pushes for Constitutional Amendments by Clause

Udomdej revealed that the Thai Sang Thai Party reaffirms its stance on the "anti-corruption agenda" by pushing for constitutional amendments by clause to empower 50,000 citizens to impeach corrupt politicians and independent organizations. The party also promotes a people's National Anti-Corruption Commission and seeks to unlock economic opportunities for small entrepreneurs by suspending 1,400 licenses.

On 20 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Udomdej Rattanasathien, prospective party-list MP of the Thai Sang Thai Party, disclosed the party's political direction.

He confirmed that the Thai Sang Thai Party will push the "anti-corruption agenda" for the government to proceed with constitutional amendments by clause, aiming to make this constitution truly effective in fighting corruption.

In the previous parliamentary term, the Thai Sang Thai Party tried to advance these proposals but did not receive adequate support from other parties. However, the party remains determined to continue pushing the "anti-corruption agenda."

Mr. Udomdej emphasized a clear position that the constitutional amendments will not alter chapters 1 and 2 but will focus on creating a practical "anti-corruption constitution". This includes genuinely returning power to the people by allowing 50,000 citizens to initiate impeachment of independent agencies, the Constitutional Court, and politicians at all levels—from the prime minister and ministers to MPs and senators—if found guilty of corruption. This ensures that citizens’ power extends beyond just voting days.

Additionally, the party seeks to establish a "people’s National Anti-Corruption Commission" starting at the village level and involve the Joint Public-Private Sector Committee (JPP) in oversight to build a strong, transparent system of checks and balances.

Mr. Udomdej also spoke about the need to remove obstacles for citizens and SMEs in making a living. The party proposes issuing a single royal decree to suspend enforcement of over 1,400 outdated and complicated laws and licenses for 3-5 years, enabling small entrepreneurs to operate immediately without waiting for slow approval processes that create opportunities for official extortion.

The party aims to transform the state’s role from a controlling bureaucracy into one that supports and promotes citizens, which is key to eliminating corruption and creating opportunities for Thai people to earn income and improve their livelihoods swiftly amid current economic conditions.
