Prime Minister Accompanies Jaa Thanon to Surat Thani to Pay Respect to Phra Wachirapariyattaporn

Anutin accompanied his wife, Jaa Thanon, to monitor community tourism in Surat Thani, aiming to stimulate the grassroots economy. They paid respects to Luang Pho Phat Narato and respectfully prayed to Phra Wachirapariyattaporn.


At 18:00 on 20 Feb 2026 at Wat Pattanaram Royal Monastery in Mueang Surat Thani District, Surat Thani Province, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, together with Ms. Thanon Niramith, Chairwoman of the Cabinet Spouses Committee and Honorary Advisor of the Ministry of Interior Housewives Association, Mr. Atsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Jinnanarat Sampantharat, President of the Ministry of Interior Housewives Association, and Mr. Siam Sirimongkol, Director-General of the Community Development Department, visited the area to follow up on promoting community tourism to boost the grassroots economy, accompanied bythe Deputy Governorof Surat Thani, Mrs. Sopa Kanjana, President of Surat Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, who also joined the visit.


On this occasion, Mr. Anutin and the delegation paid homage to the statue of Luang Pho Phat Narato, former abbot of Wat Pattanaram in Mueang Surat Thani, a renowned monk in southern Thailand highly respected by the local people and throughout the south for a long time.


Then they paid respects to the principal Buddha image in the main ordination hall and respectfully greeted Phra Wachirapariyattaporn, the Provincial Ecclesiastical Chief of Surat Thani and abbot of Wat Pattanaram (the Royal Monastery). Phra Wachirapariyattaporn sprinkled holy wateron the Prime Minister's bow and offered blessings. 


Afterwards, they traveled to the Mutita Chit Dhammasathan Foundation to pay homage to the largest Guan Yin statue in Thailand, carved from white granite—a landmark where locals and tourists visiting the Surat Thani municipality area come to pray for blessings.


The government and Ministry of Interior place great importance on promoting initiatives to stimulate the grassroots economy and improve the quality of life for people in all regions, ensuring well-being, employment, stable careers, and income. Surat Thani Province is a strategic area driving economic and industrial sectors,  as well as education and social development, aimed at enabling the population to achieve sustainable quality of life.
