Rangsit Rome reaffirmed that he will continue investigations if the Kla Tham Party is pushed into the opposition, especially concerning the "Ben Smith - MOU for iris scanning" issue. He stressed that he does not want to see ministers with questionable backgrounds.
At 3:00 p.m. on 21 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Rangsit Rome, deputy leader of the Prachachon Party (PCP), spoke about reports that the Kla Tham Party, led by Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, who is the party's advisory chairman, is highly likely to be sidelined as the opposition. When asked whether the PCP would welcome this, given that Lt. Col. Thammanat has previously filed multiple lawsuits against PCP members, he said it cannot be simply said whether they welcome it or not, as the opposition does not form by agreement. The PCP is fully committed to its role and is not concerned about who becomes the opposition. They neither welcome nor resent it. Regarding gray-area funding, they will continue investigations regardless. If Lt. Col. Thammanat truly becomes opposition as reported, it does not mean they will stop investigating him. The Ben Smith issue will also continue; it is not only related to Lt. Col. Thammanat but also involves several others.Signthe MOU with a Singaporean company linked to iris scanning, we must also proceed. We will strive to fulfill our duty. We do not want those with gray-area backgrounds to gain state power because the damage to the country would be deeply rooted and severe.
When asked about the possibility that ministerial seat quotas might be why the Kla Tham Party did not join the government this time, Mr. Rangsit said that if the PCP were to form a government, they would focus on candidates’ qualifications, requiring knowledge, competence, and expertise. It would not reflect factional or political clique interests. What he wants to see are ministers who are knowledgeable and capable, not those with records of corruption orcorruption.or those who have administered the government in ways that caused damage. Thailand has suffered enough. It is unclear how the government formation will proceed, but we do not want anyone with questionable backgrounds andcorruptionto become ministers again.
