Tawee questions that the hundreds of thousands of 'ballot discrepancies' are not simply technical errors. He calls on the Election Commission to restore trust by forming a task force to investigate and use legal mechanisms to reveal the truth.
Police Colonel Tawee Sodsong, leader of the Prachachat Party, posted on Facebook stating that the issue of ballot discrepancies is not just a numerical inaccuracy but a dangerous sign that the sanctity of elections is being challenged. He added that elections are the foundation of democracy, and integrity is the social contract between the state and the people. When this process is questioned, trust is shaken, and social conflict inevitably intensifies.
Concerns arise as the Election Commission shuts down the Ect Report 69 website.
The general election held on 8 February 2026 sparked major questions after the Election Commission published the constituency and party-list vote counts on its website named Ect Report 69 on 18 February 2026. Subsequently, two well-known academics, Professor Sarinee Achavanantakul and Professor Loy Chupongthong, analyzed the data statistically and observed a significant issue: the combined total of 'ballot discrepancies' reached approximately 324,000 ballots.
What is troubling is that on 20 February, just two days later, the Election Commission shut down the Ect Report 69 website, making it difficult for other parties to jointly verify the vote counts.
Calls for the Election Commission to take proactive action.
Police Colonel Tawee further stated that the figure of several hundred thousand 'ballot discrepancies' cannot be easily dismissed as mere human error. This is a reasonable suspicion or a legal fact that demands the Election Commission act proactively, not wait for complaints. The EC has full authority to investigate, examine, suspend, or even order a new election immediately to protect the integrity of the vote.
Emphasizing that society does not want excuses.
The leader of the Prachachat Party said that society today does not want excuses but demands answers to three trust crises.
1. The crisis of 'secrecy' in the voting booth.
Printing QR codes on green constituency ballots and barcodes on pink party-list ballots has compromised election secrecy, violating the constitution and election laws clearly. This is a fundamental rights violation currently leading to lawsuits at the Supreme Administrative Court and complaints to the Ombudsman.
2. The crisis of 'ballot discrepancies' and phantom ballots exceeding the number of voters. When the number of ballots in the box exceeds the number of voters who signed to receive ballots, this is not a technical error but grounds to believe the election may be unfair. The Election Commission must expedite investigations and immediately disclose the facts.
3. The crisis of 'unnatural discrepancies'. For the two types of ballots, one eligible voter receives two ballots, marks two votes, and casts both together, but after counting, there is a massive discrepancy between the two ballot types. This irregularity reflects flaws requiring thorough investigation.
Suggesting the Election Commission restore trust.
Police Colonel Tawee also called on the Election Commission to restore trust by "opening the black box" of the election management process. The EC must dare to act on these critical issues: forming a joint audit task force including representatives from civil society, computer system experts, and forensic scientists.
- Examining ballot sources, comparing signatures or fingerprints with actual ballots used, and verifying the voter list to prevent identity fraud.
- Disclosing all procedures to allow public access because this is public information.
Affirming it is not an accusation but a defense of rights.
He confirmed that all these statements are not accusations but the exercise of legal rights to protect the people's sovereignty. If everything is done with "integrity," disclosing the truth is the only way to restore public trust. But if they choose to "remain silent," letting ambiguity become the new norm, the damage will not stop at this election but will undermine confidence in the entire democratic system. Because one person, one vote is the highest power of the country, and no organization is above scrutiny.
"I urge the Election Commission to fully use legal mechanisms to reveal the truth publicly so that the 2026 election will be remembered as a turning point for transparency, not a symbol of silence and the 'most fraudulent' election ever held in Thailand," Police Colonel Tawee concluded.
