Recount in Nan Province Constituency 1 Polling Station 3 Results in Tie Between Prachachon and Klattham Parties

Unofficial results from the recount of the Nan Province Constituency 1 Polling Station 3 parliamentary election indicate that Chaowit of the Prachachon Party and Ekanat of the Klattham Party each received the highest score of 112 votes.

On 22 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reports indicated that the atmosphere during the recount for the Nan Province Constituency 1 Polling Station 3 election was orderly. This followed an incident where polling officials mistakenly tore 69 ballots, invalidating the previous vote and necessitating a new election to protect voters' rights.

Throughout the day, eligible voters steadily arrived to cast their ballots, reflecting strong political engagement locally. A total of 349 out of 579 eligible voters participated, a decline from the 425 voters who participated in the previous election.

Among the 76 who did not vote this time, it is expected many were working in other provinces or were students studying outside Nan Province.

At 17:00 GMT+7, officials closed the polling station and immediately began counting votes openly in front of citizens and observers to ensure transparency and allow verification at every step.

The Nan Provincial Election Commission clarified that those who voted previously but did not participate in this recount are not required to report their absence, as they are considered to have exercised their voting rights according to regulations.

This election was conducted following the same procedures as the initial vote, including opening the station, facilitating voters, maintaining order, and counting ballots to ensure honesty, fairness, and verifiability.

Mr. Prathan Prompao, Director of the Nan Provincial Election Commission Office, personally observed the process, while Police Colonel Channarong Ratchatprathan, Chief of Nan City Police Station, and his officers closely maintained order.

In this count, candidate number 3, Chaowit Yanoy of the Prachachon Party, received 112 votes, while candidate number 8, Acting Second Lieutenant Ekanat Thiansut of the Klattham Party, also received 112 votes, resulting in a tie. The results will be compiled and officially announced according to the Election Commission's procedures.
