The Election Commission (EC) is expanding its investigation to find those who dumped election documents from Samut Prakan Constituency 6 in a garbage dump in Phra Samut Chedi District after it was discovered that all documents had previously been stored at a location designated by the EC's electoral district office.
At 14:30 on 23 February 2026, the Election Commission Office reported that it is intensifying its fact-finding inquiry into the case. Documents related to the management of the House of Representatives election for Samut Prakan Constituency 6, along with referendum documents, were found in a garbage dump in Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province.
Earlier, the EC assigned Mr. Kanchit Charoenin, Deputy Secretary-General of the EC, and an investigation team to the area on 14 February to verify the facts. They found that the documents were used at polling stations. According to reports, the officials had already completed the election process using these documents, and the vote counting results had been officially reported. Therefore, the incident does not affect the election results or the integrity of the process. Additionally, the documents found were in the process of being stored by the EC's Electoral District 6 Committee at the designated location.
Meanwhile, reports also indicate that the EC is currently investigating how the documents ended up at the scene and who was responsible for this action. Preliminary questioning of those involved revealed denials of any knowledge or involvement. This has led to an expanded individual investigation to determine who removed the documents from the storage site to dispose of them in the garbage dump. The EC will take legal action against those responsible. ."
