Mallika Boonmitrakul Mahasuk announced on her program that she will run as an independent candidate in the 2026 Bangkok governor election shortly after her 53rd birthday.
On 23 February 2026, reporters reported that Mallika Boonmitrakul Mahasuk former party-list Member of Parliament for the Democrat Party, revealed during the Mallika SHOW on Naewna Online that she will run for the position of Bangkok governor in the 2026 election.
Regarding public park policies, she stated that parks should not be fenced off but accessible to the public. If fences exist, they should not be tall or locked. If there are concerns about misuse, increasing lighting and hiring security guards are recommended solutions. She also suggested that district offices should cease requiring both sides of ID cards in person and instead allow online submission to ease public convenience.
Meanwhile, the show included a singing of Happy Birthday to celebrate Mallika’s 53rd birthday on 22 February. During the segment, a question was raised whether she would indeed run for Bangkok governor. She confirmed that she would and that she would run as an independent, not affiliated with any political party.
Reporters added that if the current Bangkok governor, Chadchart Sittipunt, completes his term, the next election is expected to take place on 5 July 2026.
