
The First Army Region has urgently transferred the commander of the Military Circle 12 prison to assist at headquarters and appointed a central investigative committee to further probe the death of Private Petchrat.
On 23 February 2026, an urgent report from the First Army Region (1st AR) provided updates on the death of Private Petchrat Klangying, assigned to the 2nd Artillery Regiment, King's Guard, at Phrom Yothi Camp in Prachinburi Province, who died on 10 Nov 2025. Preliminary autopsy results indicated the cause was acute heart failure due to abnormal enlargement and blockage of the heart muscle, with no signs of physical assault.
However, as the family and relatives of the deceased still have doubts and concerns about certain issues, the First Army Region commander has taken prompt action by ordering the immediate transfer of the Military Circle 12 prison commander to assist at the 12th Military Circle headquarters temporarily while further facts are sought.
Additionally, a central investigative committee has been established to conduct thorough on-site inspections covering all involved units, emphasizing transparency and straightforwardness to alleviate the concerns of the deceased's family and the public.
The First Army Region expressed its deepest condolences to Private Petchrat's family and affirmed that the military does not tolerate protecting wrongdoers. Should the investigation reveal any negligence or wrongdoing, actions will be taken fully in accordance with regulations and the law, with findings communicated promptly once the process concludes.
