Rakchat Party Urges Government to Proactively Communicate Thai Culture to Prevent Neighboring Countries from Claiming It

The Rakchat Party submitted a letter to the Ministry of Culture calling for proactive communication of Thai culture after neighboring countries attempted to claim it. The letter included a message in English targeting “Cambodia,” urging them not to seize flimsy evidence to claim it as their own culture.

On 24 February 2026 at the Government House, Mr. Phum Sawatdee, a member of the Rakchat Party, submitted a letter to Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture. Mr. Pradorn Prissanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, accepted the letter on her behalf.

Mr. Phum stated that he urged the government to act proactively and clearly communicate with the public about Thai culture, as some neighboring countries are attempting to claim Thai culture without historical evidence. He noted that Thai culture has been registered with UNESCO as a World Heritage. He proposed the government take proactive measures and support the private sector in producing entertainment to promote Thai culture internationally. He also addressed Cambodia in English, asking them to respect the shared culture and not to misuse flimsy evidence to claim any culture as solely their own.

Mr. Pradorn Prissanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, said that as a government representative, he thanked the Rakchat Party. Although the election campaign has ended, political activities and ideas beneficial to the country continue to be followed and presented. As a government representative, he will deliver the letter to the Minister of Culture for further action.
